Overview
THE FRONTLINE is a project of the Family Challenge Charitable Trust that seeks to empower disenfranchised community members affected by trauma (associated with war, child-exploitation and natural disaster). Over the past decade, expert trauma consultant Dr Robi Sonderegger (Clinical Psychologist) has been (a) developing and validating evidence-based therapeutic interventions for refugees; and (b) providing trauma rehabilitation training for humanitarian organizations, church groups, government departments, and educational institutions operating in disaster zones around the world. In 2006, he developed a 13-session standardized culturally sensitive trauma rehabilitation program called EMPOWER. With more than 10,000 refugees in Northern Uganda participating in the largest research trial ever conducted in a war zone (collaborating with academics from Boston and Griffith Universities), the EMPOWER Trauma Rehabilitation Program has gone on to become a world leading therapeutic intervention for children of war. More than 100,000 copies of the program are now in circulation. Requests for the EMPOWER program have now been received from around the world, with expansions into Africa, Asia, South Pacific, and Middle East currently underway.
Through the generosity and commitment of FRONTLINE volunteers as well as the contribution of countless supporters from all corners of the globe, the EMPOWER Trauma Rehabilitation Program is progressively impacting countless thousands of lives for the better, championing against injustice, and acting as a voice for children whose cry goes unheard.
