TRAINING

EMPOWER Trauma Rehabilitation Training workshops equips allied health, educational, medical professionals, church leaders, and humanitarian agency staff with an in depth understanding of:
How trauma is encoded and processed in the human mind (and body)
How trauma manifests itself in behavior, thought process, & emotional expression
How to therapeutically work with people experiencing PTSD (& associated symptoms) - making the biggest impact possible in the most expedient manner

ACTIVE THERAPEUTIC / TRAINING COMPONENTS:
Many people who have been traumatised find it difficult to trust others. Without trust, it's hard to form lasting relationships. Trauma victims are often unwilling to talk about their experiences because of the uncertainly as to whether it may cause even more pain. This lack of trust often results in withdrawal and isolation, and difficulty engaging and working with patients towards sustainable change. Rebuilding relationships that can be relied upon is therefore very important. EMPOWER Trauma Rehabilitation training serves as a guide for discussions and activities that help promote (a) the forming, storing, and norming of new relationships; (b) 'readiness-for change'; (c) the development of emotional regulation skills for coping with and ultimately overcoming traumatic stress; and (d) reconciling one's past with a view to forging new horizons.
